【摘要】:Itisnecessarytoknowthedistributionofparticlesizesofgranularactivatedcarboninordertoprovidepropercontactofgasesorliquidinapackedbedofthematerial.Changesinparticlesizedistributioncanaffectthepressuredropacrossthebedandtherateofadsorptioninabedofagivensize.Meanparticlediameterisapropertyofactivatedcarbonsthatinfluencespressuredrop.Effectivesizeanduniformitycoefficientaretwopropertiesofactivatedcarbonsoftenofinterestinmunicipalwatertreatmentapplicationswherecontrolofparticlesizeisofinterest.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheparticlesizedistributionofgranularactivatedcarbon.Forthepurposesofthistest,granularactivatedcarbonisdefinedasaminimumof90%ofthesampleweightbeingretainedona180-x03BC;mStandardsieve.AU.S.mesh80sieveisequivalenttoa180x2013;x03BC;mStandardsieve.Note18212;Forextrudedcarbons,asthelength/diameterratiooftheparticlesincreases,thevalidityofthetestresultsmightbeaffected.1.2Thedataobtainedmayalsobeusedtocalculatemeanparticlediameter(MPD),effectivesize,anduniformitycoefficient.1.3Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.3.1Exception8212;AllmassmeasurementsareinSIunitsonly.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
